Job Title: Senior Project Accountant – Submarines
Location: Barrow-In-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £50,000+ dependent on experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Responsible for the delivery of all core project accounting deliverables for a major element of the Dreadnought Programme whilst ensuring effective financial challenge, governance and support to the programme teams.
2. Working with the Dreadnought Project Management Organisation (PMO) lead for your area to deliver robust forecasts into the Monthly Management Reporting (MMR) process and supporting the project teams to ensure financial commitments are met.
3. Working with the Project to ensure quarterly Contract Status Reports are produced, reflecting an accurate financial representation of the programme.
4. Continuous improvement of financial process/practices & governance activities.
5. Managing a team of 2 to 3 Project Accountants, ensuring their continued development.
6. Providing support from a financial perspective for contract management, negotiations, and amendments.
7. Working with the internal and external stakeholders including the MOD, Project and Commercial teams, Supply Chain teams and Central Finance on a regular basis.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
1. Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) or relevant equivalent is essential.
2. Accounting and financial management experience, working in a variety of roles including working within a project finance environment.
3. Thorough knowledge of Financial IT Systems including SAP and MS Excel.
Desirable:
1. Good working knowledge of MOD’s policies and procedures.
2. Understanding of business and financial modelling experience.
3. Experience of influencing across functions and hierarchies.
4. Experience within a similar Defence environment / role would be highly advantageous.
