This is a new and exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in politics to support the Leader of the Labour Group and the elected members of the Labour Group in Salford. As a Political Assistant your role will involve providing the Leader of the Labour Group and it’s Members outstanding day to day assistance with a focus on analysis of information and administrative skills.
Key responsibilities within this role will be to engage in high quality research with relevance to the ambitions of the Group, through communication with internal and external groups (such as Labour Headquarters, Members of Parliament and Local Government Association. The successful candidate will have the ability to collate information from a range of material, have strong planning and organisational skills, research and develop the policies of the Labour Group, as well as deliver high level briefings and a strong communications function.
It is essential that there is a high level of understanding of both the local and national political landscape, with a particular focus on views and matters that resonate with the values of the group, whilst maintaining a knowledge of ongoing political actions and decisions within Salford Council.
