Long Term Futures is working alongside a inclusive specialist provision in the High Peak to recruit a dedicated learning support assistant to join their team after the Easter break (April 2025). This rewarding role involves working closely with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and complex behaviours.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people, supporting their education, care, and personal development within a specialist provision.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students in and outside the classroom
Assist in the delivery of personalised Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Support students with communication, sensory processing, and social interaction
Help with personal care and mobility needs where required
Adapt and prepare learning materials to support individual learning styles
Build supportive relationships with students, staff, and families
Track student progress and contribute to reporting on outcomes
Participate in ongoing training to enhance your SEN knowledge and skills
Ideal Candidate:
Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Teaching, Care, or Special Educational Needs) or equivalent experience
Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly PMLD and complex needs
Patient, empathetic, and able to respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work well within a multidisciplinary team
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
