Assurance Officer
(Access and Inclusion, SEND Services)

We are dedicated to strengthening our work in partnership with stakeholders across the local area to ensure that children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities achieve strong outcomes.
You will support senior officers to ensure ongoing compliance with partnership and governance arrangements and preparedness for regulatory and compliance frameworks. Working closely with service leaders to ensure latest guidance, national and local framework requirements are implemented, supported and evidenced in our work with families across the Borough through coordination of activity, accurate record management and reporting.
You will manage a programme of leadership and assurance meetings and events focusing on SEND, working closely with Quality Assurance and Improvement colleagues to deliver a robust assurance calendar and track improvement activity and impact. You’ll play a key role in the coordination of the Local Area SEND Partnership, implementation of our SEND Strategy and preparation for inspection.
The successful candidate will be confident in delivering high quality, accurate information to senior officers and have the ability to nurture good working relationships with a wide range of officers within South Tyneside Council and across our partnership.
You’ll be a confident communicator, demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You will maintain excellent and accessible records to support enquiry, work with corporate colleagues on thematic issues and provide briefings to fulfil assurance and governance requirements.
Previous experience of working in a rapidly changing complex environment is desirable.
