Senior Internal Communications Officer – Workforce
Grade 12 (£47,040 - £49,083pa)
Croydon Council is delivering a major transformation programme to ensure the council has a sustainable future providing the best possible services to residents.
Many of our staff live and work in the borough. Our people are central to our success, and we are looking for someone who can help bring our People and Cultural Transformation Strategy to life with real stories, campaigns, and case studies.
The role will work closely with our HR, recruitment, and workforce development teams. From employee branding to staff benefits, applicants should have experience in working on people-centred communications. This is a new position that will help the council through its transformation, ensuring people are engaged and informed.
All change brings challenges, so we are looking for someone who has experience running change campaigns and creating engaging communications that cater to different working patterns and preferences.
Experience managing communications campaigns and plans for large projects is a must. An understanding of employment law and experience running large staff engagement campaigns is desirable. Internal communications experience, preferably in the local government sector, is essential.
Examples of work include:
1. Developing a new content strategy for the council’s LinkedIn platform.
2. Creating a people communications plan, covering everything from staff benefit campaigns to how to roll out employment policy updates.
3. Facilitating employee engagement with change programmes through events, podcasts, and other creative channels.
4. Carrying out user research to inform the development of our communications channels, ensuring they reach the right people in a style that caters to different needs.
Please note: this role will be part of the internal communications team, but the role holder will also be responsible for the delivery of external communications relating to transformation. This is a full-time position (36 hours per week), based in central Croydon under the council’s hybrid working policy.
If you are interested, please take a look at the role profile for more information about the essential criteria that will be used to shortlist candidates. You can find out more here.
