This new role for Orphans has huge potential for the business and for the right individual. The print market has changed, and so has our business – we are well equipped to provide excellent print services, supported with systems and people to ensure high-quality output. We swallow everyday jobs but welcome more creative, complex print designs, whether in terms of materials, finishes or shape.
We have also set high standards to make our services truly sustainable, a commitment many customers actively support and seek out. We’ve been less effective in sharing these positive stories with the outside world, including our customers. So this role is about raising our profile, exploring new opportunities with customers and taking our services to potential new customers.
This is a holistic role which calls for close contact with customers, developing initiatives to broaden our reach and in-house liaison. Whilst knowledge of print or allied sectors would be an advantage, we place greater store on characteristics of drive, vision and empathy for customers and their brands – this understanding steers the solutions we offer.
We want to work with an individual who quickly grasps what makes Orphans tick and gets our proposition. You should enjoy talking print with customers who are eager for guidance. They know their brand but will rely on Orphans to guide them to print which sets them apart. Adding value to customers is a pre-requisite so you will need to relish absorbing the many options which will inform our advice to customers.
The market has changed hugely in recent times but there is still a place for print and there are plenty of pockets of growth and potential. There are, of course, customers driven by the quest for the lowest prices. These are not our audience.
We better suit those who value the role of print in supporting their business and brand credentials. How does print do this? There are many angles but to name just a few; distinctive papers and boards which are loved by creative designers and agencies; vibrant, special ink colours which catch the eye; and interesting effects such as foils and embossing which combine with creative design. And, increasingly, the care in all of this to ensure minimal impact on the environment – we can already deliver no carbon footprint (in the right hands, print has a good sustainability story to tell).

Established in 1873 when pioneering visionary Henry Stanley Newman set up the printing works to generate income for Leominster Orphan Homes and provide orphans with a trade – and, by extension, a future. We are very proud of our heritage so we are still ‘Orphans’ in honour of Henry’s vision.
We can help ensure your print is as friendly to the planet as possible, ideally carbon neutral.
