A leading supplier of power tools and fixings is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to enhance their procurement team. This role is pivotal in maintaining thepany’s reputation for excellence and reliability in supplying aprehensive range of products to the construction industry across the UK and Ireland.
Your new role
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of purchase orders, ensuringpliance with procurement policies and collaborating with internal teams to meet purchasing needs. You will oversee the import process, including documentation, customs clearance, and shipment schedules, to guarantee the timely arrival of goods. You will regularly update pricing data, engage in cost negotiations, and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making. You will work in tandem with the warehouse team to optimise inventory levels, implementing strategies to minimise stockouts and overstock situations.
What you'll need to succeed
1. At least 2 years of experience in a procurement or buying role.
2. Proven negotiation skills and the ability to secure favourable terms.
3. Strong organisational skills, with a solid grasp of sourcing and supplier relationship management.
4. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics.
5. A proactive approach to decision-making, coupled with effective problem-solving abilities.
6. A thorough understanding of inventory management systems and the Trader Support System.
