RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all the following responsibilities) Management Responsibilities: Creates and implements personal development plans as appropriate for staff. Holds subordinates accountable and addresses poor performance. Conducts performance reviews in a timely fashion and gives clear and honest feedback, offering recognition for exemplar performance, or alternatively, improvement plans as needed. Demonstrates responsibility for budget and effective utilization of resources plans and manages resources to maximize results. Effectively contend with changing priorities in a dynamic environment arising from production downtime, product quality or performance deficiencies, or field service issues. Manufacturing Engineering Leadership: Perform any or all the necessary support functions related to a manufacturing environment such as: o Interpret customer technical specifications and assist in clearly communicating requirements to manufacturing floor through drawings or work instructions. o Support manufacturing documentation creation through routing definition and ERP system support as needed. o Share knowledge of CNC, welding, and various manufacturing equipment, including programming, to support root cause problem solving efforts. o Design jigs, fixtures, and materials handling aides as needed. Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean tools and methods. Support establishment, planning, and execution of Capital Improvement projects. Lead or support cost estimation activities, accounting for manufacturing strategy, initial routings, and special tooling requirements. Product Development Leadership: Provide technical leadership, guidance, advice and assistance to group members, peers, and other departments. Drives integration of theoretical, analytical, and experimental product development activities to effectively and efficiently develop high-quality, cost-effective products and solutions. Assures the use of FMEA and Hazard ID processes in conjunction with industry standards (NFPA, ASME, UL) Drives the cost and quality level of products during the development phase to maximize profitability with minimum defect levels throughout the life cycle. Coordinates test & validation to oversee and guide creation of proper testing goals and procedures. Supports Management in the development of project business cases. Requirements Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications: Bachelors Degree in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing or any related field required. Masters Degree desirable. Experience in lean, six sigma and/or related methodologies. Team builder with a positive attitude and previous supervisory experience is preferred. Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills. Proven track record of developing and implementing process improvements. Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. 5 yrs. in a leadership role managing people. Valid drivers license and proof of insurance required. Able to travel 15%.
