We are currently seeking 5 highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Information Systems Officers to help drive forward the Council’s digital strategy.

The role
In this role, you will work collaboratively across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups, and you will assist on several key digital projects the council is currently committed to. These could include the development of telephony systems (Storm Contact Centre, Teams and Mobile Telephony), automating front and back-office processes (Microsoft Power Platform), developing our Customer Relationship Management (Verint) solution, carrying out user acceptance testing, or upcoming projects around online chat and natural language, as well as other duties as they arise across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* To contribute to development and maintenance of applications that will improve service to customers and achieve best value.
* To develop relationships across the business and work effectively with colleagues to define requirements, resolve problems, and improve services.
* To monitor and review data to ensure effectiveness of systems and processes, to improve performance.
* To assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for deployments, upgrades, and fixes.
* To diagnose and interpret information from the service and external agencies, and identify and deliver on data cleansing and application configuration requirements.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
* A good level of technical competence and experience of applications and data sources.
* The ability to learn new applications & systems skills.
* An understanding of information requirements associated with the storage and transfer of sensitive data.
* The ability to support development in a structured project environment.
* The ability to apply knowledge to solve problems in a logical way.
* The ability to translate complex information into an easily understood format.
* The delivery of training on a one-to-one basis or small groups.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026.
