About the role
You will provide cover for Catering Assistants in our Trust Academies for planned and unexpected absence, assisting with catering events such as Academy parent's evenings, taste testing and general hospitality.
We are looking for a highly motivated team player to join our catering teams. This role will suit someone who understands the importance of positive representation of the great work the Trust and its Academies are undertaking.
You will be working with the catering teams in our Academies, under the direction of both the Academy Catering Manager and the Trust Catering Manager.
Salary: £13.02 per hour (payment award pending)
Hours: The hours are casual dependent on the business needs and your availability. Working hours will be confirmed upon appointment. The catering service operates between the hours of 7.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and term time only (38 weeks per year). Generally, relief work will be required over the lunchtime service.Location: You will be available to provide cover in all five of our Academies located in LE4, LE2 and LE18, as required. Key Objectives:
The Trust Catering team (dine@lwlat) aims to provide the highest standards of food safety and hygiene across all our Academies. By following safe working practices and procedures our Catering Team will ensure that all food prepared in their kitchens is safe, nutritious and of the highest quality.
We are committed to taking all reasonable precautions and exercising due diligence to ensure that Trust and Academy premises, practices, and procedures comply with current and relevant food safety regulations.
You will be suitably trained to understand this commitment and practice due diligence to ensure their food is safe to eat.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
• Assist in the preparation, production and serving of food. Produce food to the specification/recipe, being mindful of Natasha’s Law, to ensure consistency whilst managing allergens. Assist with cleaning of catering areas during and after service.
• Undertake the setting up and dismantling of dining room furniture, cleaning of premises, plant and equipment.
• Report accidents, breakdown of equipment and Food Safety and Health and Safety hazards.
• Promote Customer Care and liaise with other catering staff and customers to achieve delivery and standard of service required.
You will have:
• A level of numeracy and literacy sufficient to carry out the duties of the post (min Grade C/Level 5 GCSE Maths & English)
• An understanding of the essentials of food hygiene
• A willingness to undergo training
Ideally you will also have:
• Food Safety training level 2
• NVQ/Apprenticeship in Food production (or equivalent)
• Good working knowledge of catering and food preparation
You will be:
• Able to travel to your agreed Academies, as directed by the Trust Catering Manager.
• Able to work out of normal hours, e.g. for Academy events, etc.
