Transport Operator Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our friendly team in Teynham on a full-time permanent basis!
Responsibilities include:
* Managing vehicle utilization effectively and providing drivers with clear instructions to meet service levels within drivers’ hours and safety regulations.
* Planning the use of drivers, vehicles, subcontractors, and agencies, considering all company sites.
* Ensuring driver safety and compliance with hours regulations.
* Liaising with the retail department to optimize fleet and driver utilization, resolving delivery issues.
* Controlling equipment to meet customer requirements and recording compliance.
* Investigating accidents and driver performance issues.
* Ensuring trucks are legal and data is downloaded timely.
* Supporting drivers during callouts and breakdowns.
* Informing customers of delays via appropriate contact methods.
* Matching ASN’s to loads to ensure compliance.
* Completing accident, incident, and near-miss reports.
* Tracking drivers using ISOTRAK / Microlise systems.
Working Hours: Sunday-Wednesday, 7pm-7am.
Salary: £31,500 per annum.
Qualifications:
* CPC National/International qualification (desirable)
* Experience in distribution or transport environment
* Ability to manage workload under pressure
* Understanding of vehicle planning and geographical knowledge
* Basic knowledge of driver hours regulations/Tachograph law
* Organizational skills and initiative to work independently
