‘My apprenticeship really helped me with developing my confidence, making decisions and learning how to handle customer queries both over the phone and email,’ says Charlie, who works at our head office and recently achieved his Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship. If you’re keen to develop your office skills and you’re helpful and polite with a positive attitude, then here’s your chance to follow in Charlie’s footsteps and join our Colnbrook office as Apprentice Office Assistant. Ready to earn and learn as you work towards your Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship?
What you’ll be doing as Apprentice Office Assistant
This varied and valued role is a fantastic introduction to working in a busy office on the reception desk and you’ll get plenty of help and encouragement! You’ll learn how to use the switchboard system so you can take calls and cover lunchbreaks and absences, as well as process the daily post. Other tasks to dive into include ordering office supplies, helping with pool car bookings and arranging refreshments.
You will learn great communication skills (phone, face-to-face and email), develop your computer know-how and, if you prove yourself, the opportunities are there for progression - three of our former Apprentice Office Assistants have moved into different areas of Grundon.
What you’ll need
Ideally, 4 GCSEs A*-C / 9-4, including Maths and English, or equivalent.
Apprenticeship need-to-know
Your apprenticeship will last for up to around 18 months, with 80% of your learning delivered ‘on the job’ and the remainder involving on-site assessments.
Why Grundon – and what’s in it for you
We believe in nurturing talent and offer plenty of training and professional development opportunities. We recently held our first-ever Grundon Graduation, celebrating our successful apprentices from the past year.
You can expect a perks and benefits package that includes:
1. Pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this)
2. 30 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), pro-rated as this is a part-time job, which will increase with service, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days' holiday
3. Reward and discount shopping scheme
4. Range of wellbeing benefits, including discounted gyms
