Position: Carbon Solutions Engineer
EQUANS is recruiting for a Carbon Solutions Engineer based in Gateshead. This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
Experience in designing projects from concept and unbuilt developments to retrofitting installations on domestic and commercial ASHP and GSHP systems is required.
Key Accountabilities
* Proficient with both electrical and heating/mechanical aspects of installations.
* Develop and deliver detailed technical solutions with a right-first-time approach.
* Manage the entire design lifecycle, from initial design and consulting to specification and sign-off.
* Conduct site visits and surveys for prospective domestic and commercial installations.
* Familiarity with a range of technology manufacturers.
* Design and approve sustainable measures and installations; perform full heat loss calculations.
* Produce tender, pricing, and design packages; identify key dependencies; recommend and implement optimal solutions.
* Support operational teams and evaluate subcontractor and supplier offerings.
* Experience working with District Network Operators.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; report to the Senior Carbon Solutions Engineer.
* Represent the company at progress and client meetings, providing clear technical guidance.
* Assist in commissioning and optimizing heating schemes.
* Communicate and present design proposals to clients, ensuring their requirements are met.
* Take on delegated tasks to support department management.
* Lead project kick-offs, monitor progress, and brief supporting engineers.

Candidate Requirements
* Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or extensive heating design and installation experience.
* Over 2 years of experience in designing and installing domestic and commercial ASHP systems.
* Strong knowledge of the low carbon economy, including energy audits, building energy performance, renewable generation, or alternative fuels.
* Degree in mechanical, building services, or renewable energy disciplines.
* Ability to review and generate technical and contractual documentation.
* Experience working with consulting entities, asset owners, utilities, or government bodies.
* Strong technical, leadership, communication, and project management skills.
