Job Purpose
To be responsible for the administrative team supporting the delivery of the Postgraduate Taught Programmes within the School of Law and provide an efficient, forward-thinking and effective administrative service, to review, evaluate and develop policies and practice relating to postgraduate study to enhance the student experience. They will ensure the effective implementation of processes and policy across the portfolio and provide expert knowledge and advice to key stakeholders. They will be required to make key operational decisions in support of the administrative teams and the Learning and Teaching Operations Manager. This role will play a key part in contributing to a culture of continuous improvement across learning and teaching.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide high-quality and wide-ranging administrative support and guidance to the Programme Teams, working closely with the Learning and Teaching Operations Manager, the other senior administrators, PGT Director, Pathway and Programme Directors, Assessment Officers and Course Coordinators.
2. Provide line management support to a team of programmes administrators to enable effective management of workload, performance, and development review and support staff well-being.
3. Manage all activities relating to the assessment and exam processes for courses within the programme. Manage the wide range of complex tasks associated with students' extensive written and online assessments. Continue to develop and implement wider use of the University VLE for online learning and the submission and grading of student assessments. Monitor and evaluate results, continually seeking to improve the experience for students.
4. Collaborate with academic colleagues and student services to coordinate student orientation activities, events, and support.
5. Review, evaluate and develop policies and practice to enhance the student experience, benchmarking against competitor institutions in collaboration with senior colleagues.
6. Build subject and programme knowledge to facilitate responses to high-level enquiries and support the Programme Administration team in answering all staff and student enquiries.
7. Responsible for identifying and making recommendations on improvements to enhance the efficiency of the service provision; contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
8. Interrogate, manipulate and interpret complex data to create actionable insights, using the results to inform high-quality decision-making across the School's learning and teaching administrative workstream.
9. Ensure effective administrative support is provided for all Postgraduate committees including the preparation and circulation of agendas, meeting papers, minutes and ensuring all actions are progressed.
10. Ensuring the overall integrity of student records. Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of student records. Ensuring the application of university, college and school policies and procedures relating to control of confidential information and personal data.
11. Oversee the full range of administrative functions including Timetabling, Induction, Exam Boards, Assessment and Feedback, Good Cause, External Examiners, SSLC, Student feedback (EvaSys).
12. Exercise empathy, initiative, and judgement, proactively managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to create an adaptive customer experience.
13. Responsible for a cross-school key operational activity based on the current needs of the school and the Learning and Teaching strategy.
14. Liaise with School Student Recruitment Manager and International Partnerships Administrator to provide student, course and programme data to inform ongoing recruitment campaigns, and to support PGT students from international partner institutions.
15. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Learning and Teaching Operations Manager.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
1. A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s). Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
2. A2 Detailed knowledge of university policies, procedures, and regulations [including but not limited to those governing learning, teaching and assessment, support for students with disabilities, data protection legislation].
3. A3 Knowledge of administrative support systems, process design and improvement.
4. A4 Excellent IT skills including Microsoft office suite.
Desirable:
1. B1 Process Improvement or Project Management experience.
2. B2 Understanding of the postgraduate taught student lifecycle.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,232 - £36,924 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and offered on a fixed term basis. This post is to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
