ABOUT THE ROLE
My client is looking for a Senior Estimator to join their major infrastructure division. The successful candidate has a great opportunity to work closely with the framework manager. They are looking for an individual with experience of working on major infrastructure projects. The role allows the opportunity to work in a hybrid working environment between home and office based. You will be based in the Watford office and will be part of a small team of 5.
The type of work that you will get involved in ranges from maintenance works, and major earthworks to bridges, roundabouts, and bypasses. These projects will range in value from £30M – £200M. Types of projects include remodelling the port of Dover, rebuilding Bletchley station depot valued at £50M and working on CP7 for Network Rail. They are looking for somebody interested in a long-term job and willing to progress in their career. The role will initially not involve managing a team of people however, as the team develops, there will be scope for that.
REQUIREMENTS
You will be required to have a good standard of education preferably to degree qualified or Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC) in a relevant field to the industry.
Candidates will need to have excellent communication skills and understand construction techniques and outputs. Along with being contractually aware and can take off quantities from project drawings. It is essential to have experience in managing Health and Safety procedures and be commercial acumen and be aware of internal and external customers.
Ideally, I am looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience working as an Estimator for a UK-based Civil Engineering contractor or someone who has experience in pre-delivery.
However, I am also open to looking at a Senior Engineer or Sub Agent who is interested in getting into Estimating. If you are a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer, you need to have good stability working for Civil Engineering contractors.
You will also need a full UK driver’s license to allow you to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might be required to visit.
