Lead the Adventure: Nursery Manager wanted for Dunbar’s first outdoor nursery!
Are you passionate about early childhood education with a love for the great outdoors? This is your chance to shape something truly special. We are launching Dunbar’s first-ever outdoor nursery and are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced outdoor nursery manager to lead the way.

What you’ll be doing
As our Nursery Manager, you’ll play a key role in building a high-quality, nurturing, and inspiring early years setting from the ground up. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Creating a magical outdoor learning environment where children feel safe, supported and engaged.
2. Recruiting and leading a passionate team of early years practitioners, ensuring they feel valued and inspired.
3. Developing a play-based curriculum that aligns with the Curriculum for Excellence and embraces outdoor learning principles.
4. Building strong relationships with families, the local community, and partner organisations.
5. Managing the nursery’s day-to-day operations, finances, maintenance, and regulatory requirements to ensure excellence in care and education.
What we’re looking for
We need someone who is:
1. Passionate about outdoor learning and early childhood education.
2. Experienced in nursery leadership (minimum 2 years of management experience) and working in a GIFREC environment.
3. A confident leader who can support and motivate a team.
4. Organised and proactive, able to manage everything from training to finances.
5. Committed to creating a warm, inclusive, and engaging nursery where every child can flourish.
6. SCQF Level 9 or working towards it / BA in Childcare Practice
7. SSSC registration
8. Minimum 5 years’ experience in childcare, with 2 years in management.
What we offer
1. Salary: £30,000-£36,000 pro rata (based on experience)
