Job summary Senior Mental Health Practitioner - Mental Health Support Team - Early help Mental Health Children & Young People Band 6 The Mental Health Support team (MHST) is part of the Early Help Division within Forward Thinking Birmingham. The team provide assessment and individual and group mental health interventions to young people age 5-18 years old. The team also provide consultation/advice to non mental health professionals working with young people in Birmingham. This is part of the Whole School Approach function, which also includes parent workshops, assemblies and training for school staff. The aim of the Mental Health Support team is to embed preventative, early help mental health support in schools. Main duties of the job We are committed to increasing therapeutic interventions in CYP at the stage of early help, preventing them from needing care from secondary CAMHS service. This innovative senior mental health practitioner post is a city wide post. On a day to day basis, you will work with a caseload of children and young people, providing therapeutic brief intervention within schools/ educational settings, to prevent these individuals requiring secondary care. You will also work with early help colleagues to provide creative interventions and support groups. Additionally, you will provide line management to band 5 practitioners within the team. The post is a hybrid style of working between home and city wide. The post is appropriate for Nurses, OTs and Social Workers with significant mental health experience as well as experienced CWPs/EMHPs or allied health professionals with mental health backgrounds. The role will include a supportive induction programme, as well as opportunities for career development.
