The Role:
As a Senior Theatre Practitioner and Surgical First Assistant (SFA), you will ensure high standards of care during a wide range of surgical procedures, bringing extensive scrub experience across various specialities.
Key Duties:
1. Prepare and maintain the sterile field to ensure all surgical procedures are conducted safely, adhering to aseptic techniques.
2. Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures across specialities to deliver high-quality perioperative care.
3. Provide skilled assistance as a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) during procedures.
4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures to ensure a smooth workflow.
5. Provide expert scrub assistance during complex surgeries.
6. Document perioperative care and any interventions performed to ensure accurate records.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential Requirements:
1. Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration.
2. Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification and experience assisting surgeons during complex procedures.
3. Extensive experience as a Scrub Practitioner in various surgical specialities.
4. Proven leadership experience in an operating theatre, with excellent communication and mentoring skills.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Post-graduate qualification in perioperative nursing or a related field.
2. Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff or students.
3. Involvement in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced theatre practitioner with a strong background across various surgical specialities and qualified as a Surgical First Assistant. You will excel in providing skilled scrub and SFA support, ensuring the best outcomes for patients.
