BAND 6 NEUROSCIENCES OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Rotational)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1.0 WTE Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the Neurosciences Occupational Therapy Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post sits within the neurosciences band 6 rotation, in which you can gain further clinical experience within the specialties of: acute stroke, stroke rehabilitation, neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology (in-patient and out-patient) and neuro rehabilitation.
Rotations are 18 months long, allowing you time to establish yourself within teams, gain knowledge and experience, whilst also having the opportunity to contribute toward service development within the wider team.
These services are delivered across the 3 main sites of Leeds General Infirmary, St James Hospital and Chapel Allerton Hospital. Occupational Therapy is highly regarded and has a strong profile within all these clinical areas.
The neurosciences team is committed to providing a high level of evidence based care and rehabilitation. As a Band 6 therapist you will support the Band 7 staff in leading and developing the service. Part of your role will also be to provide training and supervision to junior staff and students.
Main duties of the job
The post holder must be assertive, flexible and committed to patient centered and compassionate care. They must be skilled in complex caseload management; discharge planning and possess relevant neuro clinical knowledge. The post requires someone who values team working and is an effective communicator; are all essential requirements and must be detailed in your application.
A variety of in house training opportunities are available, including joint sessions with Band 7/ Band 8 Clinical Specialist Therapist, peer support and participation in the monthly neuro-in service training programme.
The successful candidate will receive regular support and supervision.

To work within the Occupational Therapy Service, providing effective Occupational therapy intervention to various clinical areas.
To manage autonomously a clinical workload at a specialist level: assessing and treating patients and maintaining associated records.

Clinical Responsibilities
This post holder will be responsible for providing complex occupational therapy intervention in a specific clinical specialty.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner addressing occupational therapy performance skills, social context and activity demands in collaboration with patients, carers and colleagues.
Clinical intervention may take place in a variety of settings including wards, therapy departments clinics, people's homes, workplaces, community facilities, childcare and educational establishments.
The work involves close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and community-based health and social care providers.
The post holder is responsible for financial and physical resources for example, use of equipment store systems such as Leeds Equipment Service, petty cash.
