Trade Support Specialist
The Middle Office Trade Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support to both the Portfolio Managers and other internal teams, ensuring all trades are captured and affirmed in a timely manner. The role will have exposure to all asset classes traded at Millennium, including interest rate derivatives, credit, bonds, F&O, FX products (both cash and derivatives), as well as all Equity products.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Working with portfolio managers and other internal teams in automating and streamlining existing processes to aid in the reduction of operational risk and increasing the speed and efficiency of the trade capture process.
2. Broader T0 tasks: Ensuring that the Middle Office provides a timely and high standard level of service to our stakeholders, supporting the business with ever-changing business initiatives and demands.
3. Trade Queue: Monitoring and timely clearance of trade exceptions generated by new executions.
4. Middle Office Inboxes: Monitoring and timely resolution of queries sent from Portfolio Management teams and our Counterparties.
5. Electronic Affirmation: Working with both onshore and offshore teams, and with our counterparties to match and resolve economic breaks for a range of asset classes.
6. Non-electronic Affirmation: Ensuring that the risk on all trades or products that do not go through an electronic platform has been addressed and mitigated.
7. T+1 support: Providing support on T+1 to remediate any issues from the previous day, conducted in a timely manner with impacted parties informed.
8. Escalation: Escalating to line manager, Operational risk, and the wider management team of failures in the process or potential issues that could create an erroneous P&L event for the firm.
9. Global Model: Ensuring a clear handover of tasks and responsibilities to each region as the MO operates a 'follow the sun' model.
10. Firm support: Supporting the Portfolio Managers as and when they are trading while also working with all other teams in the firm to ensure accurate and timely capture of trades every day.
11. Improvements and management of initiatives: Identifying and documenting pain points/process weaknesses within respective areas, and taking steps to remediate through delivery of remediation initiatives.
12. Control focus: Proactively identifying, assessing, and documenting risks within your area, and proposing process and control improvements to mitigate them.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Previous experience with traded products.
2. Familiarity with a high-paced working environment and aptitude for prioritizing multiple deliveries.
3. Strong market understanding and familiarity with industry and regulatory change.
4. The ability to balance working autonomously and collaborating as part of a team, as well as managing project deliveries alongside BAU requirements.
5. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves daily interaction with senior stakeholders across the firm.
6. Familiarity with industry standard systems such as MarkitWire, Markit Trade Manager, Bloomberg, and Murex is beneficial.
