We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer to be responsible for assisting and working directly for the Head of Safety in the delivery of Health and Safety across the organisation. This role involves providing advice, assistance, and support to operational managers regarding existing systems of work to assist in legislative compliance and best practice. You will also assist operational managers in internal monitoring and reporting of Health and Safety events and KPIs regarding investigation, performance, and risk analysis against our internal systems and standards. Additionally, you will assist as required with the wider Safety team regarding fire safety in both our office space and domestic and commercial building stock.

Freebridge Community Housing is the largest provider of housing in West Norfolk, set up in 2006 to receive the transfer of homes from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Today, we own and manage around 7,000 homes across West Norfolk, making a difference to thousands of customers within communities across an area of almost 550 square miles. We have an annual turnover of £30m and employ well over 200 people, including our own Property Services team. Over the last 14 years, there have been numerous achievements, not least delivering our tenants’ promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living.
Key Responsibilities
* Under the guidance of the Head of Safety, assist operational managers in the implementation of Health Safety and Welfare procedures to assist in the delivery of both safe systems of work and a positive Health and Safety culture across the organisation.
* Assist and advise operational managers in the completion, delivery, or review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
* Lead, review, or assist operational managers in undertaking accident or incident investigations, including completion of required record keeping, offering recommendations around remedial actions, maintenance of records, and reporting to the Head of Safety, the Health & Safety Committee, and Leadership Team as required.
* Assist in the carrying out of safety inspections of our operational buildings and the completion of reports where deficiencies or concerns are raised.
* Assist in the procurement, organisation, and provision of training regarding induction, topic-specific, or refresher training as appropriate within areas of knowledge and experience.
Knowledge and Experience
* Relevant Health and Safety qualification to NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level.
* Relevant experience in a similar Health and Safety role.
* An understanding of Health & Safety and associated legislation.
* Experience of completing investigations.
* Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritise within this, and meet deadlines.
* Driving license essential, together with vehicle available for business use.
Compensation and Benefits
* £33,492.63 per annum
