SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) LEVEL 3. Reception Location: KENDAL Hours: 6 HOURS PER DAY, MONDAY TO FRIDAY Contract: TERM TIME ONLY Salary: £15.55 PER HOUR About Us: The mainstream primary school is a nurturing and inclusive primary school committed to providing an excellent education and a supportive environment for all pupils. They are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Reception pupil with an EHCP in accessing the curriculum and developing their social, emotional, and learning skills. Role Overview: The role involves providing 1:1 support for the pupil. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to deliver tailored support that promotes the child's development and inclusion in school life. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the pupil in accessing the curriculum, adapting resources as needed. Encouraging the pupil's social and emotional development, fostering positive relationships with peers. Implementing Individual Education Plan (IEP) targets and providing feedback to the SENCO and class teacher. Assisting with personal care if required (e.g., toileting or dressing). Promoting independence and confidence in learning and daily activities. Working collaboratively with the school team and external agencies to provide the best possible support. Essential Requirements: Experience working with children with Down's syndrome or additional needs. A patient, caring, and positive approach to supporting young learners. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and families. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training will be provided). Willingness to undertake additional training as required (e.g., speech and language support or Makaton). Desirable Requirements: Knowledge of communication aids.
