Oracle DBA - Edinburgh - 6 Month Contract - Outside IR35 Lorien's Public Sector client are currently recruiting for an Oracle DBA to join on a 6 month initial contract, outside IR35. Responsibilities: Serve as the subject matter expert for Oracle database architecture throughout the migration process. Ensure Oracle production databases are properly mirrored in AWS while maintaining data integrity and high performance. Collaborate with the Cloud Architect to define and implement database replication strategies and configurations in AWS. Provide guidance on schema optimisation, indexing strategies, and performance tuning for Oracle databases in the cloud environment. Identify and address Oracle-specific issues encountered during the migration and propose actionable solutions. Support the design and implementation of database monitoring and optimisation tools in AWS. Document best practices, lessons learned, and technical details for Oracle database migration. The successful candidate will have the following skills/knowledge: Experience managing and optimising Oracle databases in production environments. Proven expertise in Oracle database architecture, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning. Hands-on experience with database replication and migration to cloud platforms, particularly AWS. Strong understanding of AWS services relevant to databases, such as RDS, EC2, and S3. Proficiency in Oracle-specific tools and technologies (e.g., RMAN, Data Pump, Oracle RAC). Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. AWS Certified Database Specialty or Solutions Architect certification. Experience in transitioning from Oracle to alternative cloud-native database solutions. Knowledge of cost optimization strategies to minimise Oracle licensing costs in the cloud.
