About us The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service. Our lifeboat crews need a dedicated, professional, and talented team behind them. The All-weather Lifeboat Centre is the RNLI's in-house, boatbuilding, repair and refit facility located in Poole. We have a full schedule of Lifeboats in build and refit, in addition to a continuous program of front-line boats coming to us for upkeep and repair. We are seeking experienced and hard working Marine Engineers / Mechanics to join our teams, and assist us in delivery the highest quality of boats to our volunteers enabling them to save lives at sea. Life assurance Health and dental cash plan Your role For this role you will be an experienced and/or time-served apprentice Marine Engineer or equivalent, who undertakes refits and repair of different classes of All Weather Lifeboats. Including; Servicing, repairs and modifications, vessel strip down and assembly, and diagnostics of mechanical systems, i.e. engine, propulsion, hydraulics, fuel, etc. Working in conjunction with other members of the ALC, you will ensure that tasks are completed in a structured and professional manner and a multi-skilled attitude and approach is desirable. The ALC offers a clean, organised and safe work environment, with all tools, materials and PPE provided to enable you to undertake this work. About you You must be able to work to Engineering drawings and standardised work, safely and efficiently. You will be working as a member of a multi-disciplined team ensuring that lifeboats are built and refitted on time and within budget, meeting the RNLI’s stringent quality standards. It is essential you have relevant City and Guilds or NVQ level 3/BTEC qualifications, time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Previous experience of boat refits and repairs, new boat production, and marine mechanical and electrical systems is desirable. Come and join us, and help save lives at sea.
