Torbay Children’s Services is seeking to appoint one 0.5 Senior Educational Psychologist, registered with the HCPC, to be part of our skilled and friendly team.
This new post has been created following a recent restructure within the Educational Psychology Service in Torbay. Working alongside the newly appointed Principal Educational Psychologist, the Senior Educational Psychologists will support with the day-to-day operational planning and management of the educational psychology service by undertaking line management and supervisory duties within the service.
This new role will support wider change within SEND and Children’s Services across the local area partnership. We are looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and creative Senior EP with a minimum of three years’ experience to work collaboratively with our leadership team and wider partners.
We offer a consultation-based model of service delivery, alongside opportunities for in-depth casework, systemic work, and time to further develop professional interests, wherever possible.
We promote solution-focused, person-centred approaches and co-production with our partner agencies to facilitate positive change. For the Senior role we ask that you have:
* An Honours Degree in Psychology acceptable for membership of the BPS.
* A recognised postgraduate qualification to practice as an Educational Psychologist and Membership of the HCPC.
* At least 3 years’ experience working as an educational psychologist.
* Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel throughout the authority to visit schools, attend meetings, and visit clients.

* Knowledge of solution-focused, strength-based practice and interventions to support positive change.
* Sound understanding of equality issues in providing services, respecting and valuing an individual’s diversity and contributions and thereby seeking to avoid unwitting discrimination.
* Knowledge and skills to monitor the quality and impact of service delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
* Honours degree in Psychology or equivalent recognised by British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Postgraduate qualification (MSc. or DEdPsych) incorporating professional training in Educational Psychology.
* Membership of professional and academic bodies (e.g., BPS, AEP) and their relevant sub-sections/divisions.
* Considerable experience as a qualified Educational Psychologist who is registered with the HCPC.
* Experience of operational and strategic multi-agency working with professionals and stakeholders demonstrating high level ability to work collaboratively whilst having the confidence to challenge assumptions.
