1X Buyer & 1X Senior/Lead Buyer - Manufacturing
An international technical manufacturing, electronics and engineering organisation seeks to recruit a 1X Buyer & 1X Senior/Lead Buyer to join on a permanent basis.
Role: 1X Buyer & 1X Senior/Lead Buyer
Type: Permanent position
Salary: £30,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
Location: Buckinghamshire (hybrid working)
Key responsibilities for Buyer job role include:
1. Purchase goods and services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
2. Maintain MRP data including lead-times, cost and supplier evaluations.
3. Ensure continuous supply of required material and communicate any supply issues that may arise.
4. Manage supplier order books and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product and service quality levels are maximised.
6. On-time-in-full delivery of materials and services to support project milestones.
7. Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
8. Identify appropriate sources of supply to meet contract needs.
9. Ensure contract conditions are applied including specific flow downs where appropriate.
10. Assist in developing ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities for Senior/Lead Buyer job role include:
1. Provide daily leadership, operational direction and continuous improvement to the Buyer and provide purchasing KPI and accountable for team performance.
2. Carry out Procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis.
3. Drive actions to mitigate potential delivery delays by identifying risks, performing root cause analysis and development of recovery plans to bring shipments back in-line with customer requirements.
4. Competitive tendering to ensure best value for money.
5. Issue RFQs and POs in accordance with company procedures.
6. Implement purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
7. Ensure that all Purchase orders are issued to suppliers in a timely manner and that terms and conditions reflect the requirements of the programme.
8. Negotiate the lowest possible cost balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
9. Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
Key skills required for the Buyer / Senior Buyer / Lead Buyer job applicant include:
1. Proven experience as a Buyer.
2. Technical manufacturing background, ideally within electronics, mechanical or electro-mechanical sourcing.
3. Strong analytical skills.
4. IT Literate.
