About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Design Engineer, predominantly based at our Head Office in Shipley. Occasional travel is required for this role.
Your mission in CMbE
This role is responsible for generating assembly and component detailed drawings for CAD models. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating with production engineering to optimise assembly/component Design for Manufacture (DFM) and with the quality department to define incoming inspection requirements to verify component quality.
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Generating design concepts for solutions to specific functional requirements;
2. Documenting design concept assumptions, design trade-offs and calculations within the project design life;
3. Preparing and presenting technical reports for project gate reviews;
4. Contributing to planning design activities with the project manager;
5. Providing technical support to the publications department for the creation of product manuals, build books, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Essential to this role is knowledge of material properties and standards; geometric dimensioning and tolerance principles and standards (ISO); machining methods and techniques; and configuration management (BOM) and Material Resource Planning (MSO) packages.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate technical knowledge of packaging machinery; sensor technologies/solutions; electrical drive systems; mechanical transmission systems; and hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems.
About you
Candidates must hold a formal technical qualification to degree level, or equivalent, in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate technical information with various stakeholders; together with strong verbal and written skills, problem solving skills, the ability to work effectively within, and across, project teams and be highly organised with a high level of attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, adaptability, take initiative and think strategically.
