The Sourcing Manager II addresses indirect categories (non-raw material) within Evonik procurement. The role is responsible for all office and plant locations in the United States and Canada with respect to the purchase of Technical Equipment, Maintenance/Technical Services and General Goods & Services. We are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Sourcing Manager with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills coupled with strong business acumen.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Set overall strategic direction and priorities for the responsible category.
2. Identify national contract opportunities; seeking to address indirect spend of full organization, with focus on regional, national or global synergies. Coordinate with global counterparts where necessary.
3. Audit documentation of competitive bid process within the category to ensure consistency and compliance to the Procurement Management Manual.
4. Responsible for managing KPI’s defined by Procurement Management.
5. Manage key supplier relationships including contract/price negotiations as it pertains to indirect categories, including preparation and evaluation of the bid documents. Negotiate the optimization/extension of existing contracts and catalogs, including the generation of new contracts and catalogs. Dollar ranges up to $50 MM/year.
6. Negotiate purchases of goods and/or services assuring highest quality, safety, time and cost effectiveness.
7. Minimize Evonik liability relative to quality management, licensing, insurance, taxes, and financial stability for Suppliers and Contractors supporting Evonik.
8. Evaluate performance of suppliers and contractors and recommend removal or addition to the approved bidders/suppliers list as necessary.
9. Manage and maintain electronic catalogs for e-Procurement programs like Ariba, RIsource for total process efficiency, productivity, cost savings and contract price compliance.
10. Provide training and troubleshooting for the requester user community.
11. Identify and document savings potential, especially in terms of sustainability and EBIT relevance.
12. Identify and communicate regional market trends for the assigned categories.
13. Responsible for leading transformational change and projects.
14. Support compliance standards for Evonik policy and commercial contracts. Support vendor prequalification process.
15. Support corporate procurement initiatives as needed (ie: sustainability, efficiency, supplier diversity, payment terms, systems integrations, acquisitions/divestitures, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as engineering/chemistry with seven years experience in Purchasing or a related field is required. A Masters degree in Business such as an MBA is preferred.
2. Prior experience in delivering savings and strategies for any of the following categories:
1. Technical Equipment: MRO/capital goods; Laboratory Services up to $50MM.
2. General Goods and Services: Consulting, IT; Benefits; Fleet; Leasing Equipment (Office & Industrial) up to $50MM.
3. Technical Services: Maintenance (Supplemental and Nested); Small Capex projects <$10M); Engineering Services; Facilities up to $50MM.
3. Must possess knowledge of business law, accounting principles, state tax laws, “Occupational Safety & Health Act” (OSHA), “Environmental Protection Agency” (EPA) and state licensing regulations, as well as a basic understanding of Quality Management Systems.
4. Outstanding negotiation abilities; hands-on experience with sourcing software.
5. Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on Evonik’s success.
