We work with global companies and institutions to build products and services to precisely track satellites and remove the dangers of space debris. We're now seeking a talented and driven Financial Controller to join our team and play a key role in our growing startup to set the foundations for future growth.
As our Financial Controller, you will be a vital part of Lumi's operations, taking ownership of our financial management and ensuring we have a solid foundation for growth for the future.
As our Financial Controller you can expect to be responsible for:
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparing accurate and timely financial statements, management accounts, and reports for the CEO and the board of directors.
2. Cashflow Management: Monitoring and optimising Lumi's cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds for operational needs and investment opportunities.
3. Payments & Payroll: Managing all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and overseeing payroll.
4. Bookkeeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
5. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax.
6. Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and systems, implementing best practices, and enhancing efficiency.
We'd love you to have:
1. Qualified Accountant: You'll either be or working towards being a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong understanding of UK accounting standards.
2. Startup Experience: You have prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and are comfortable with ambiguity and change.
3. Hands-on Approach: You are a proactive and hands-on individual with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved in all aspects of finance.
4. Strong Systems Skills: You'll have excellent IT skills and be proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel.
5. Excellent Communication: You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Bonus Points:
1. Experience and enthusiasm for the space sector, ESA funding mechanisms or Innovate UK grant-based financing.
2. International experience with export and import finance - we buy, sell and build with overseas clients.
3. Understanding UK R&D tax credits and experience with claims.
4. Prior experience in aiding and completing audits with external firms.
