Depute Head Teacher

Salary: £68,
Hours: 35 per week
Granton Primary is a non-denominational school serving an area in North Edinburgh. It is one of four schools that feed Broughton High school.
We have a committed, nurturing staff team consisting with the senior leadership team consisting of a Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head Teachers, 1 Principal Teacher, 1 Development Officer, 1 Business Manager.
We have a supportive Parent council and have developed good links with the community.
The successful candidate will have experience of and be responsible for the following:
1. Support the leadership and management of the Early Years, which includes the Nursery and P1/P2 teams, so they can develop, thrive, and deliver outstanding care to all children in the setting
2. Have a sound knowledge of early years pedagogy and child development
3. Role model and mentor the early years team to ensure the highest quality early childhood practice and experience for all children, including children with special education needs and/or disabilities
4. Have an extensive knowledge and experience in GIRFEC and ASL policy and practice
5. Have experience and knowledge of working with pupils and families with EAL
6. Be an excellent communicator and able to build relationships and work in partnership with families and external agencies on the progress and outcomes of the children
7. Lead Equality and Rights Respecting work across the school
8. Develop work in pupil voice and pupil leadership groups across the school
9. Establish creative, responsive, and effective approaches to teaching and learning and ensure a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can have a voice, achieve success, and become highly engaged in their own learning
10. Work within the SLT to facilitate improvements in attainment, attendance, and equity
11. Lead whole school events, staff development and school assemblies
12. Further develop parent partnerships

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
