People Advisor – Cambridge Location: Cambridge (with travel to other offices as required) Salary: Competitive Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week Hybrid Working: 2 days from home (flexibility required) Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced People Advisor to join a dynamic, forward-thinking team. In this key role, you will provide expert guidance to 600 employees, act as a trusted advisor to line managers, and foster positive employee relations. You will lead initiatives that promote wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) while enhancing the overall employee experience across the firm. The People team encompasses a range of disciplines, including Talent, Learning and Development, Reward and Benefits, and Payroll. If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you Key Responsibilities: Advise line managers on best practices in people management, including performance management, employee relations, and HR policies. Support managers in handling employee relations casework, such as disciplinary and grievance matters, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards. Develop strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction. Manage escalated queries from the People team and maintain updated manager toolkit resources. Guide managers on managing sickness absence cases and supporting employees, as well as absence reporting for payroll. Collaborate with the Head of People to design and deliver wellbeing and mental health initiatives including workshops, communications, and events. Oversee the reasonable adjustments framework, advising managers and employees on implementation and reviews. Manage initiatives to improve operational efficiency, onboarding, induction processes, recognition programs, and career development. Collect and analyse employee experience data, working with the People Coordinator and Head of People to identify areas for improvement. Review and update People policies to reflect legislative changes and guide the wider business on policy matters. Ensure compliance with Home Office sponsorship requirements, right-to-work checks, and IR35 regulations. Support the delivery of change projects and process improvements within the firm. Collaborate with senior People team members on strategic initiatives. About You: Strong experience coaching managers through employee relations matters, including performance management, flexible working, and leave processes. Experience handling Settlement Agreements, Subject Access Requests, probationary extensions, sickness absences, disciplinary matters, and investigations. Proven ability to improve processes, ideally through automation. Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law. Experience supporting complex employee relations issues with a commercial approach. A valid UK driving license with access to your own vehicle, as travel to other offices will be required. CIPD qualification is advantageous but not essential.
