Job Summary:
The GPI systems designer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising the GPI/ETL solution and corresponding subsystems to support Treasury and overall organisational needs. This role requires a deep understanding of client/server architecture, web applications, APIs, network protocols, data storage solutions, and security measures. The IT Systems Designer will collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders including project managers, business analysts, developers, and testers to ensure that solutions meet business requirements and that the systems are scalable, reliable, and secure. The solution is deployed globally, and this role will require strong capability in collaboration and working with stakeholders located in different locations across the globe. Candidates should be self-motivating, results-oriented, and able to multitask across different initiatives.

* Develop detailed system designs and specifications for GPI and ETL and related subsystems.
* Create comprehensive designs including functional specifications, data flow diagrams, database and interfaces schemas and mappings, configuration standards, and interaction protocols between systems and components.
* Ensure that the system design meets requirements for scalability, security, and performance, optimising for high-volume, transaction-based environments.
* Ensure documentation remains up-to-date and reflective of changes or upgrades in system design.
* Collaborate with project stakeholders, including business leaders and product managers, to understand requirements and translate them into system specifications.
* Work with software developers, network engineers, and database administrators to ensure cohesive systems integration.
* Ability to present system designs to technical and non-technical audiences, explaining design choices and trade-offs.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather and translate requirements into technical specifications.
* Validate that designs meet both functional and non-functional requirements, including reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure that data handling and API protocols meet organisational security standards.
* Establish and enforce system standards and best practices.
* Work closely with .NET developers, DB2 database administrators, and other engineers to ensure smooth integration across all components and systems.
* Provide detailed technical guidance on API design, including RESTful service standards, error handling, authentication, and response formatting.
* Support the development and testing of .NET applications, DB2 queries, and APIs, ensuring that each component meets design specifications.
* Ensure that systems meet both current and future operational needs.
* Evaluate new tools, methodologies, or frameworks that may enhance system performance and streamline development.
* Design test cases that assess performance, reliability, and security.
* Incorporate testing feedback to refine system designs, resolve issues, and enhance performance.
* Monitor and improve system performance, scalability, and security.
* Perform root cause analysis of complex issues and provide long-term solutions.
