Suffolk Independent Living, Ipswich, Suffolk £13.80 per hour 3 - 4 hours per week Permanent Job purpose The purpose of this role is to care for and make a strong relationship with my son, like their own. ‘A’ is 5 years old, soon to be 6. I want ‘A’ to be happy and content with his personal assistant once the relationship has been built. ‘A’ needs somebody who is active, positive and caring to support them both at home, and out and about. Understanding HIGH level SEN is important with knowledge of autism, non-verbal, ADHD and global delay is a key purpose as ‘A’ struggles with these conditions every day. The successful candidate will be expected to keep information confidential and personal matters between employee and employer, and to treat and look after ‘A’ like they would their own family members. Safeguarding ‘A’ at all times as ‘A’ has no understanding of danger awareness. About me I am a caring and loving person who always puts her children first. Caring for my SEN son is my biggest priority. Having little family support, I am looking for somebody to become part of the family and to make a long-term bond with my son. Communication is key so I am always approachable and understanding if there is any issue. The successful candidate will be supporting ‘A’, my son. The successful candidate will be working in a smoke and pet free environment. You will be expected to keep off your mobile phone as much as possible unless there is an emergency as they are expected to be supervising ‘A’ at all times. Any photos taken of/with ‘A’ must not be put on social media and are only to be sent to the employer. Main Duties and Responsibilities: personal care nappy changes no smoking supervising ‘A’ at all times due to their lack of danger awareness car owner and able to drive – to be taken out sometimes. Personal Specification (Please refer to these when submitting your application) Essential Criteria: experience with high level SEN/autism/ADHD first aid trained or willing to be trained (certain training can be arranged) maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive information. able to communicate effectively in English SEN knowledge positive and caring nature patient first aid knowledge/experience GCSE or equivalent qualifications full UK driving license and access to own vehicle. Desirable Criteria: experience of a care role with SEN or young children ability to utilise skills and abilities gained through previous roles or life experiences related to this role. Summary terms and conditions: hours, days and times of work: 3-4 hours available per weekend and 12 hours available per week in the school holidays.
