Job Purpose:
You will be responsible for helping support the frontline Sales team with contracting best practice to enable commercially successful opportunities, predominantly within the Ocean area. You will support the development and management of clear commercial frameworks within which the Sales and Account Management Teams can negotiate successful deals.
Role Responsibilities:
1. To manage the balance between commercial risk and reward throughout the contracting process.
2. Support all relevant bids from initial RFQ stage through to final contract closure, maintaining the best commercial position possible for Maersk.
3. Provide subject matter expert support for large or non-standard Ocean opportunities.
4. Ensure commercial offers for opportunities encompass the proposed solution, assumptions made, desired returns and the liability position.
5. Support renewal processes to ensure enhanced commercial positions are sought and contracted.
6. Support Opportunity Owners in complex customer-facing negotiations from a commercial perspective.
7. Drive process optimisation and efficiency throughout the contracting process.
8. Working with internal stakeholders, identify areas for improvement and best practice within the end-to-end contracting process.
9. Analyse adherence to contracting processes and manage improvement where necessary.
10. Support the review of how we can extract value from contracting experience to inform future bids.
11. Improve Commercial Governance throughout the business.
12. Ensure contracts reflect risk-reward positions in line with internal governance processes.
13. Supporting the business to understand the commercial position in contracts and how to optimise the yield and ensure contract fulfilment.
14. Support the development of training materials to engage the business in commercial awareness.
Person Specification:
1. Ability to read and understand complex contracts identifying relevant areas of commercial risk.
2. Detailed understanding of the Ocean market and products.
3. Operational experience gained in logistics, supply chain or finance.
4. Understanding of Finance, Legal, Risk, and Sales functions.
5. Understanding of negotiation strategies to secure better outcomes in contracts.
6. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, often with conflicting agendas.
7. Wider logistics knowledge.
8. Process management.
