An experienced Laboratory Analyst is required for maternity cover - minimum 1 year for our client based in Aylesford. The successful candidate will work as part of the Quality Control Laboratory and will be responsible for the analysis of samples, chemical and consumable upkeep, ordering and inventory, waste and safety records, routine equipment maintenance, and managing daily work allocation.
Other duties will include:
1. Work as part of the team to prepare and coordinate daily activities in the laboratory relating to the analysis of samples.
2. Maintain safety records and Material Safety Data Sheets.
3. Ensure general health & safety within the laboratory.
4. Maintain good hygiene and housekeeping at all times.
5. Maintain effective communication with other departments.
6. Check analytical results and issue reports.
7. Investigate failures and carry out corrective action.
8. Work with other laboratory staff to participate in customer P-tests.
9. Conduct vitamin and mineral analysis to achieve product release.
10. Be involved in analytical method development/transfer and validation plus report writing.
11. Follow up on analytical issues and conduct troubleshooting investigations.
12. Significant input in the authorship of SOPs.
13. Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the lab.
14. Have the opportunity to be involved in different internal projects.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and a high level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail. It is essential to be experienced in HPLC analysis and methodology, LCMS, UPC2, or ICP. Must have completed Science-based A-Levels, and a higher education at HND or Degree level will be an advantage. Must have at least 2-3 years of laboratory experience in the Food/Pharmaceutical industry in a QC or R&D capacity.
