Contracts Business Partner An opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Business Partner, to join our Procurement team on a permanent basis. The role operates as home-based but will require occasional travel to one of our sites. The role The Contracts Business Partners role will be to engage on a strategic level with stakeholders and suppliers to establish proper supplier contract relationships and to oversee the commercial management of contracts, ensuring they align with company policies and legal requirements, mitigating risks, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. This role will play a pivotal role in the preparation, implementation and maintenance of Railpen’s new ERP system (covering purchase to pay, sourcing, supplier relationship and contract management). This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. The person We are looking for someone with experience as either a Contracts Business Partner or within end to end Procurement and who has a CIPS qualification or equivalent. You will have a good understanding of contract law and legal terminology. You will have previous experience in reducing costs through strategic negotiation, rationalisation, and other cost-saving initiatives. This role will be responsible for using data and analytics to assess and manage supplier performance and therefore being skilled in Microsoft Excel is key. As an SME in this field, you will work collaboratively and share relevant knowledge and experience with the wider team to encourage continuous improvement. It would be desirable if you were CIPS/MCIPS qualified or equivalent, however this isn’t essential. We are looking for a passionate individual who is self-directed and who has keen eye for detail with a desire to deliver quality work. You will have a proven-track record in complex relationship management with both business and suppliers and will look to establish and foster long term partnerships. Having exceptional communication skills and being pragmatic in your approach whilst ensuring the supplier performance is assessed, risks are calculated, analysed and reported on in a timely manner is key. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and implementing best practice for contract management and therefore we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate a desire to introduce new ideas and ways of working.
