Hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with flexible, hybrid working
Holiday - 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 28 days)
About the Digital Accountant role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Accountant in our Croydon office.
In this role, you will take ownership of a wholly Xero-based client portfolio, ensuring high levels of service and client satisfaction. You will be responsible for reviewing account performance, conducting client visits, and identifying growth opportunities. While monthly and quarterly management accounts will be your focus, colleagues will handle VAT returns, statutory accounts, and tax returns for your review.
This role offers autonomy within a structured framework, allowing you to set your own pricing, manage client relationships, and mentor business owners in best financial practices. A partner will be available as a sounding board, while you contribute to refining team processes and improving efficiency.
Beyond client work, you will support practice and workflow management, provide on-the-job coaching, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement. You'll play an active role in strategic planning, identifying training needs, and enhancing overall team performance.
Key responsibilities of a Digital Accountant will include:
1. Managing client relationships and ensuring exceptional service through regular online and in-person touchpoints.
2. Identifying opportunities to expand existing client portfolios and contribute to business development across the various TC Group service lines.
3. Overseeing portfolio finances, including driving monthly billing targets, improving recoveries, managing debt collection, and forecasting.
4. Preparing management accounts in Xero and Fathom.
5. Reviewing statutory accounts.
6. Assisting in office management, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practice.
7. Identifying and facilitating training and development needs for the team.
8. Escalating development issues and progression requirements to senior management.
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
1. Minimum 5 years' experience in an accountancy practice.
2. ACA/ACCA qualified (preferred).
3. Strong MS Office proficiency and accounting system knowledge.
4. A methodical approach to workload management for both you and the team.
5. Highly organised and adaptable, with a solutions-focused mindset.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong client and team relationships.
7. A proactive approach to developing team methods and processes.
8. Flexibility to travel to other regional offices when required.
