Job overview
We have expanded to five Haematology Wards to soon become the largest Clinical Haematology & Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in Europe. We are lucky enough to have exceptional teams of nurses, and as a result, the service has earned a deserved national reputation.
Our wards are nurse-led and are supported by a nursing infrastructure including a dedicated nursing central venous access team, nursing chemotherapy team, and a nursing educational team. This provides our ward nurses with opportunities to develop quickly while giving them the time to care properly for patients. Our nursing ward ratios are on average 1 nurse to 3 or 4 patients.
Main duties of the job
Cancer Services at UCLH are based in state-of-the-art facilities. Inpatients are currently located in the modern UCH Tower. Haematology Day-care services are located in a purpose-built Cancer Centre that opened in 2014. In 2020, Haematology inpatients transferred to a purpose-built Haematology & BMT Inpatient Hospital next door to the Cancer Centre and UCL Cancer Institute – creating a leading cancer campus.
