An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technical Services Manager to lead a diverse range of staff and technical support services at the University of Kent.
The Senior Technical Services Manager will provide leadership and operational oversight for a Technical Services team potentially covering multiple Schools, provide input into overall School strategies and play a key leading role in Health Safety within the Schools allocated. They will bring together the technical community within each School to deliver an excellent, effective and efficient technical workforce equipped with the knowledge, skills and training to enhance and enable the educational and research activity taking place there.
As Senior Technical Services Manager, you can expect to be involved in:
* Providing strategic direction and leadership of Technical Services to facilitate the smooth operation of education, research innovation and administration for all disciplines
* Managing the schools' technical infrastructure, including all equipment and relevant network infrastructure
* Working with the Head of Technical Services to ensure consistent and robust health and safety-related procedures
* Managing equipment budgets as necessary
What will you bring to the role?
* Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent qualification or experience
* A background in Biosciences and/ or Chemistry
* Significant experience successfully managing a technical team within a scientific environment, proactively delivering positive change and improvements
* Practical experience managing the safe and effective operation of a scientific laboratory environment.
* A comprehensive understanding of Health Safety practices and procedures in a technical and/or educational setting. For example, Health and safety law, COSHH, risk management.
