The Post
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified optometrist/OMP to join our Dental and Ophthalmic department within NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) - Practitioner Services. We provide services on behalf of all territorial NHS Boards in Scotland to more than 10,000 primary care contractors and their staff.
As part of the new eyecare services programme, this is a new post which will support the review and update of the community eyecare guidelines. You will provide professional and clinical support to NSS in relation to ongoing provision of GOS and associated Enhanced Services (ES), including the GOS Specialist Supplementary service and other new services as specified by Scottish Government (SG); act as a key interface between NSS, territorial Boards, SG and professional advisory committees in relation to the ongoing development of the community eyecare guidelines; and act as a key point of contact for clinical queries in relation to this work.
The Candidate
You will have significant experience of providing eye care, experience of caring for patients as an Independent Prescriber (IP) and have detailed knowledge of the current clinical guidance applicable to Scotland. You will currently be registered with the GOC or GMC. With an innovative approach and strong interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to communicate professionally and confidently as well as being an effective organiser with good organisational skills.
Location and Working Pattern
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow. Currently hybrid working. Monday to Friday, 1 x 37 hours per week or 2 x 18.5 hours per week. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
