Main Duties of the Job
1. To abstract and analyse complex clinical information and to assign codes using ICD10 and OPCS4 and enter these codes on to the trust's PAS system.
2. Work as a member of the clinical coding team with responsibility for the coding of allocated wards.
3. Where a discharge summary is incomplete, the coder will be responsible for extracting co-morbidities and other relevant supplementary information from handwritten, complex medical notes including retrieving histological results to ensure specificity and completeness of diagnostic coding.

Person Specification
* oACC (Accredited Clinical Coding) Qualification requiring specialist in-depth knowledge and experience.
* oEducated to degree level.
* oKnowledge of ICD10 and OPCS4 clinical coding classifications.
* oKnowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
