In order to maintain our commitment to high-quality patient-focused care, we are looking for experienced Children's Nurses who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse role. You will work within our amazing team in the Children's Assessment Unit at Colchester Hospital.
The children’s services team covers the Children’s Assessment Unit, Children’s Emergency Department, Children’s Elective Care, and Children’s Inpatient Unit. Our busy departments receive children with a wide spectrum of childhood illnesses and injuries; you will be exposed to caring for children aged 0-16 years in all areas, offering you exceptional opportunities for learning, development, and supported career progression.
We are looking for a highly professional individual who has excellent clinical and organizational ability and would like to further develop their managerial skills.
We have full-time posts, but part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
1. To provide assessment, recognition, prioritization, and evaluation of children with minor injuries/serious illness/injury presenting for urgent care.
2. To effectively manage and develop the nursing team within the Children’s Emergency Department (ED) and Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) and provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high-quality, safe, cost-effective care to children and families.
3. To develop the role of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner, assisting in meeting the standard of all children being assessed, treated, and discharged/admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
