MEP ENGINEER

LOCATION: BELFAST, NI
Join our expanding team at GRAHAM in Northern Ireland. We're seeking a proactive MEP Engineer to support our Building Services Manager. If you're passionate about the construction industry and eager to develop your skills, this role is for you.
As an MEP Engineer, you'll assist with tender processes, commercial management, design development, operational activities, and handover procedures. Essential behavioural competencies include commercial awareness, effective communication, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving.
THE MEP ENGINEER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:
Tender
1. Assist with presentations and submittals to ensure that the solution offers technical excellence in all areas of services.
2. Establish clear parameters of system requirements and communicate effectively with the supply chain to establish cost & design proposals to support our tender submissions.
3. Attend tender interviews when required.
4. Check sub-contractor quotations and ensure M&E performance specification has been covered.
Commercial
1. Commercial management of project to achieve set targets.
2. Ensure close liaison with the commercial team to manage project requirements and performance.
3. Manage change, record variations, and communicate to the team.
4. Check sub-contractor valuation claims.
Design Development
1. Collaborate in the design process with the wider team, ensuring that design is sympathetic with the services, and that we minimize the level of modification of systems.
2. Work with the Design Manager to brief the M&E consultants before design starts.
3. Attend design team meetings.
4. Chair M&E workshops.
5. Review M&E drawings against client’s brief, budget, technical / Building Control compliance and discuss options with the M&E consultants.
6. Mark-up M&E drawings and provide feedback to the Design Manager & M&E consultants.
7. Assist the Design Manager with obtaining M&E design approvals from the client team.
8. Look for value engineering opportunities, and simpler / faster methods of installation.
Operational / Site Activity
1. Organise and chair technical services meetings with all M&E sub-contractors.
2. Monitor installation quality.
3. Attend design team meetings.
4. Monitor compliance with the latest building regulations.
5. Ensure M&E installations are in line with client ER’s and Consultant performance specification.
6. Update M&E section of progress report and attend client progress meetings.
7. Liaise with senior management and client with any potential issues.
8. Provide technical support to project delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with key business objectives.
Handover / O&M
1. Liaise with sub-contractors to develop commissioning programme.
2. Organise and lead client demonstrations / training.
3. Inspect all commissioning certification.
4. Check as-installed drawings and ensure information is accurate / adequate.
5. Ensure all O&M information is correct and specific to each project.
6. Carry out project KPI’s.
