We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse with an interest in Ophthalmology to join our teams at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation trust.
We are responsible for providing a specialist ophthalmic service for the population of County Durham and Darlington across two sites, which encompasses Darlington Memorial Hospital and Bishop Auckland General.
The department will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to develop in your role as an ophthalmic nurse within a dynamic team. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork. You will help formulate and carry out effective care for our patients and ensure it is delivered to the highest possible level.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of Ophthalmology including scrubbing in eye theatre and clinic work.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

We are currently responsible for providing specialist services on two sites: Darlington Memorial and Bishop Auckland Hospital, with a possibility of returning to UHND in the future.
The department will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to develop your skills in the role of an ophthalmic theatre nurse learning all the specialist skills that go with this and the use of specialist equipment. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork. You will help formulate and carry out effective care for our patients and ensure it is delivered to the highest possible level.
There will be opportunities to gain experience in all areas of ophthalmology including eye clinic and injection lists.
This post will primarily be at Bishop Auckland Hospital but there will be times when you may have to work on the Darlington Memorial site.
