The Role
The CAA are looking for a Training and Quality Lead to join our Shared Service Centre (SSC), based in Gatwick. The SSC provides our customers with a single point of contact for customers requiring multiple services from us such as: pilots and engineer licenses, certificates of airworthiness, RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) and resolution of queries.
This is an exciting role where you will be training a team of specialists to optimise productivity, quality and service delivery. Ensuring the services are safety focused and conducted in line with agreed service standards and associated regulation. This will be achieved through excellent organisation skills and possessing the ability to train team members to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
1. All training activities across the SSC and deliver a portfolio of training including, induction and onboarding of SSC staff, technical training to SSC areas and assess and collaborate closely with SSC employees who deliver on the job training.
2. Lead and deliver specific training projects in line with the strategic aims.
3. Assist Team Managers in identifying quality issues, conducting root cause analysis and identifying improvements.
4. Work with key partners, act on feedback and handle partner expectations in relation to customer experience.
5. Work with key stakeholders within the CAA, including HR and technical SMEs to understand, define and develop training materials and development programmes that support SSC service delivery and annual business plans.
6. Converting all technical training material into digestible training/reference material that can be used both internally which are up to date and compliant with internal and external audit processes.
7. Be responsible for the quality assurance of internal training materials, courses and assessments – reviewing, evaluating and updating training solutions and materials to ensure currency and effectiveness.
8. Create and maintain the structure/setting to ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements of authorised personnel.
9. Identify any risks ensuring all current and future regulatory requirements are adhered to with effective controls in place and carry out regular audits of training records, training materials and documentation relating to ICAO regulations, and lead on the implementation of interventions to correct audit findings.
About You
We're seeking an experienced Training and Quality Lead Manager who has preferably worked in a regulatory environment previously but not essential.
The Postholder Will Also Need To Have
1. Previous experience in being able to deliver training sessions as we well as the ability to plan and implement change in a methodical manner.
2. Excellent attention to detail with an emphasis on quality, demonstrating accountability at all times.
3. A qualification in Learning and Development (CIPD level 5 or similar accreditation) would be preferable.
4. Ability to conduct Training Needs Analysis, developing learning interventions and delivering training sessions.

Relocation & Property
The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.
We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.
We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028.
