About Sister System
Sister System was established in 2017 as an Open College Network (OCN)-approved centre and charitable organisation seeking to establish a new model of working with girls and young women who have been affected by the care system. We work alongside young women aged 13–24, providing eight early intervention programmes that aim to help them achieve a life free from abuse and good mental health so that they are better equipped to engage in education and employment. Sister System does this by providing nationally accredited intensive therapeutic mentoring, qualifications, workshops, access to a community of other sisters, and career coaching over a period of up to nine years. Each 6–12-month programme includes therapeutic mentoring, self-development workshops, nationally accredited qualifications, peer-to-peer mentoring, a community of other sisters, networking opportunities, and career guidance.
Our Programmes
All our programmes have been co-curated with young women affected by care and are built upon proven therapeutic models of intervention. We deliver a set of inclusive, empowering, enabling, and exploratory programmes. These focus on self-education, investigating the social and emotional impact of the transition to womanhood and creating a network of sisters who can continue to support each other's growth throughout key transitional periods.
