Lynx Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join our prestigious client, a well-established logistics and distribution company based in the South West region.
About the Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Transport Manager with CPC certification to take ownership of fleet operations for our client. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with transport regulations, managing a team of drivers, and overseeing vehicle maintenance schedules while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and develop a team of professional HGV drivers, fostering a culture of safety and compliance
* Maintain the company's Operator's License and ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations
* Monitor and manage drivers' hours, tachograph records, and working time directive requirements
* Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules, including inspections, servicing, and MOTs
* Lead health and safety initiatives within the transport department
* Liaise with customers to ensure service expectations are consistently met
* Analyze and improve KPIs related to fleet efficiency and performance
* Manage transport-related budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
* Handle driver recruitment, training, and development
* Respond effectively to any transport-related incidents or emergencies
Requirements:
* Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International Road Haulage)
* Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar senior role
* Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport legislation and DVSA requirements
* Experience managing driver compliance and vehicle maintenance systems
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
* Health and Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)
* Computer literacy with experience of transport management systems
* Strong communication skills and customer service focus
Desirable:
* ADR knowledge/qualification
* FORS/CLOCS familiarity
* Experience with digital tachograph analysis systems
* Fleet management qualifications
