Contract: 6-month fixed term contract with potential to expand based on performance.
Working Hours: 8 hours per week; weekend work will be required and occasional evening work as required.
Salary: £12.60 per hour Real Living Wage
The Catering Assistant will be responsible for the day to day running of the café and overseeing hospitality volunteers. They will ensure that refreshments served on site are to a good standard providing visitors to the café with a pleasant experience.
They will be required to support the Board of Directors with events, volunteer recruitment and consultation exercises.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Catering Assistant will:
• Ensure the operation of an efficient and effective café by managing stock and to provide high quality refreshments while maintaining the highest possible standards of food hygiene and health & safety in all food preparation and storage areas.
• Ensure accurate record keeping is in place in accordance with FSA regulations.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Promote the café and wider Cynheidre Heritage project and the efforts of volunteers both internally and externally
• Coordinate volunteers to ensure that the community café is staffed appropriately based on need.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising participant volunteers’ efforts.
• Help recruit volunteers for the café and signpost volunteers to other departments available at the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
• Support general fundraising activities for the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
• Be required to cover other tasks as appropriate.

Food Hygiene Certificate Lv2 or higher or willingness to train towards - Essential
First Aid Qualification or willingness to train towards- Essential
Previous cooking experience - Essential
Good numeracy and budgeting skills - Essential
