Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineering and Integration Manager to join a board representing local transport within the region. Who are pivotal in delivering a wide range of improvement programmes to modernise tram systems and improve the service for their passengers.
Substantial investment has been put into all aspects of the system over the next few years, including refurbishment of existing substations, installation of new substations and overhead line replacement.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the system configuration for the trams is defined, kept up to date and technical interfaces are managed and controlled appropriately. You will be responsible for overseeing the assurance process for engineering changes and ensuring it is followed to demonstrate compliance with safety management systems, legislation and the industry standards.
Key Responsibilities for this Systems Engineering and Integration Manager:
1. Define and deliver technical governance across the tram system to provide assurance that the system is safe, and interfaces are managed and controlled.
2. Ensure technical and operational requirements are elicited and managed through all stages of the asset lifecycle. Ensures verification and validation of activities.
3. Work with the discipline engineering managers to develop discipline-specific asset management plans into system-wide plans.
4. Develop, implement, and embed a comprehensive range of procedures and processes to ensure proportionate technical assurance is undertaken through all stages of the system's asset lifecycle. This includes, but not limited to, the design, construction, testing and commissioning, and ongoing operation of the assets/system.
5. Ensures technical and operational interfaces are understood, defined, and controlled through relevant processes and procedures (e.g. change management procedure).
6. Responsible for the Configuration Management of the tram system and its assets.
Key Requirements for this Systems Engineering and Integration Manager:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
2. Professional Qualification in a recognised Engineering Institution (e.g., Chartered Engineer) - Desirable.
3. Proven experience working in an engineering/asset management role within the heavy or light rail industry.
4. Demonstrable experience working on the design, development, and delivery phases of infrastructure projects at a senior level.
5. Demonstrable knowledge of the recognised and relevant associated standards, legislation and specifications for light and heavy rail, with expertise around ROGS and safety assurance.
6. Knowledge of Information Management and ISO 19650, PAS 1192 and ISO 9001.
7. Experience of working on a multi-disciplinary renewal programme.
8. Knowledge of the principles of ISO55000 - Desirable.
