Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Full-Time Role
Location: Plymouth
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and skilled Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide dedicated support for a tailored educational program. This role focuses on delivering 1:1 support to a student with additional learning needs in a structured and creative learning environment.
Role Details:
* Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (30 hours per week).
* Location: Combination of home, learning base, and community-based activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the students transition from home to the learning environment.
* Assist in delivering core curriculum subjects (English, Maths, and Science) and support non-core learning (e.g., PE, music, and life skills).
* Promote life skills development, including cooking, self-advocacy, and independence in the local community.
* Facilitate engaging activities such as swimming sessions, music therapy, and physical education to foster holistic development.
* Build a strong, trusting relationship with the student while maintaining clear boundaries and using effective behaviour management techniques.
What Were Looking For:
* A Teaching Assistant or Support Worker with the confidence and ability to take the lead on education-based activities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and strong skills in working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or additional needs.
* A highly organised, adaptable individual who can think on their feet and implement creative solutions to support learning.
* Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset as you will be working alongside another HLTA.
* Ability to foster independence and advocate for the students personal and educational growth.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience in delivering or supporting non-core curriculum activities, such as PE, music therapy, or swimming.
* Understanding of sensory needs and familiarity with specialist equipment or tools (e.g., touch screen boards).
